BEHIND WALLS

This cross-media installation is inspired by quiet, gentle moments with my father that challenged my idea of traditional masculinity. A laser-cut wooden outer wall forms the shape of a reclining man, representing the rigid social image of masculinity. Inside, softer domestic elements suggest a more vulnerable self hidden beneath that shell. Fabric arms wrap around the space like both comfort and control, asking whether gender roles protect men or confine them.

SEEN WHILE UNSEEN

Inspired by The Truman Show, this project explores the invisible tension of living under the gaze of others. Rooted in personal experience and observations of social anxiety, it focuses on the discomfort of feeling watched, exposed, or quietly judged in everyday public spaces. Through sculpture and interactive art, the work examines how this psychological pressure shapes behavior and emotional response, while inviting viewers to reflect on and empathize with the inner weight of anxiety.

This reportage illustration book explores Qibao Old Street, a historic district in Shanghai where tourism and local life coexist. Through observation of residents, tourists, architecture, food, and everyday objects, I documented the spatial conflicts hidden behind the area’s restored historical appearance. The project reflects on how tourism development changes the lives of people who still live inside historic sites.
